MWR Motorsports Ducati Panigale R rider James Egan powered his way to his best result ever in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship at Brands Hatch last weekend with a magnificent 6th place, only missing out on a top 5 by two hundredths of a second. It was a great race meeting for the South African who looked very strong throughout the weekend and is really getting to grips now with the Panigale R
This weekend was our best yet and I can’t even say I’m surprised. The confidence I have in my team now allows me to focus on my ring like never before and it’s showing in how smoothly weekends are running for me on and off the track. We knew we were in a good position coming to Brands as I enjoy the track and I’m feeling comfortable on the bike more than before.
From practice, through to qualifying being equal my best, to our best race finish to date – it was a great weekend on the whole. The race itself was so refreshing to have a real hard fought tussle with quality riders, and something I’m really enjoying having my Panigale’s punchy motor and GP style chassis for. I feel at home with the bikes handling properties and it matches well with my soft, smooth riding style. I can’t wait to get to Thruxton!
I’d like to say a special thank you after Sunday’s result to Mark for bringing me forward so much since we first met in 2013. I’m enjoying my racing more than ever and look forward to building even more on this weekends top 6 placing. A massive thank you to Rocket 88, Pawson Commercials, Leatt and everyone supporting us to make this possible. I’m so grateful for the team I have around me in Mark, Dan and Em for giving me the support to do this, and to Ducati UK, MWR Motorsports, Moto Rapido and Lloyds British for giving us the platform to work from. I look forward to the rest of this season!
What more can I say, James is doing an unbelievable job on the Panigale R this season and just keeps on getting better and better. He is in a very good place right now where he is just concentrating on his racing and it is showing. It is a pleasure to work with such a proffessional and dedicated rider and very very easy as well. The team is operating like clockwork and that is a major part of what is enabling James to get the best out of himself and the package. The bike is amazing and is by far and away the most capable and efficient machine we have ever worked with. We are gathering a huge amount of data at each race meeting and the team is able to utilise this to constantly more forward and James is just loving it.
A huge thank you to Steve Moore and Moto Rapido, who are a pleasure to work with and to our fantastic team sponsors Pawson Commercials. Dan and Em for all the hard work they put in to giving James the tools he needs and of course to James for making this new project for MWR Motorsports a successful one on track.
